About this test

The code typing test measures something plain-prose tests miss: how fast and accurately you type actual source code. Programming is dense with symbols, brackets, and indentation, and it rarely lets you coast on muscle-memory words — every character matters, and a single wrong bracket breaks everything. The samples here are short, original snippets in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, HTML, CSS, SQL, JSON, and Bash, written from scratch so there are no licensing concerns. Indentation is preserved, and in code mode the Tab key inserts spaces instead of moving focus, so you can type nested blocks naturally. Expect your code WPM to sit below your prose WPM — that's normal, because symbols and precision slow everyone down. Treat it as focused practice for the typing you do all day as a developer.
